You are not alone

There is a big fluctuation when it comes to international people in Cork.

Due to jobs and situations in the home country a lot of families are looking for Ireland and Cork, with its big variety of bilingual jobs, for a different life without the struggle of living on a very low-income.

When you are new to Cork, don’t think you are on your own. There a many families from many different countries that have probably been in a very similar situation, when they first came to Ireland.

From meetings on the weekends or, if kids are involved, days at the park; there is always something to do and there are always people to do it with!!

And people that have lived here for a while, make sure you are open to others to help them in their beginnings. We all know how much stress it takes away to have someone guide you and inform you about important aspects of life in Cork.

This blog here is one of many options to find help! It is on us to make the most of the international environment we have in Cork!

Hi, I’m happy to come across your blog. My husband and I (3 kids) are thinking of moving to another country. Where we do not know yet. We live in Belgium and are rather tired of the life here. Other than the normal job search engines, would you advice on more specific ones for in Cork? I speak Chinese as well and would like to know if there are good opportunities there. Thanks! Really appreciate your effort in sharing your experience in Cork.

    Regards,
    Meili

    • Hi Meili, the main employeers in Cork belong to Pharma and IT sectors and regarding the chinese, knowing languages is a plus, and probably chinese is a very demanded one. Multinatonals in Cork and Ireland normally gives support for the markets in other countries, so there are a variety of positions, beside of the technical ones, that anyone could apply, such us customer service, sales, technichal writters positions, to develop manuals, product documentation etc. Also I know of a chinese company, Huawei , with offices in Cork (probably there are more that I’m not aware of). Hope you find my answer useful!!

    Hello!
My name is Natalie Sullivan and I’m casting an international travel show about expats moving abroad. We’d love to film in Ireland and wanted to know if you could help us find expats who have moved there within the last 15 months or have been there for 3-4 years, but recently moved into a new home. The show documents their move to a new country and will place the country in fabulous light. The expats on the show would also receive monetary compensation if they are filmed. They must also speak English fluently and can be buyers or renters for their homes. If you’d like more information, please give me a call at 646.862.2188 or skype me at natalieesullivan. You can also email me at nataliesullivan@leopardusa.com. Looking forward to hearing from you.
